Marie Brown is the author of 3 spoken-word albums, donated proceeds to family shelters in Texas, and individuals challenging HIV in South Africa. 2002, first Black woman to represent Houston Inaugural Poetry Slam Team. 2011, curator of exhibition, "Ruby Do Hair" displayed at Carver Cultural Art Gallery in San Antonio, Texas. (2006-2013), mentored Houston N.A.A.C.P. Act-So Poetry. 2023, recipient of the Texas Southern University, Martin Luther King, "I Have a Dream" Poetry Scholarship.
Icess Fernandez Rojas is an educator, writer, and former journalist. She is a graduate of Goddard College’s MFA program and the University of Houston.
